April 8-9 Ignite NYI will be participating in the FED UP FAMINE. The theme is “Fed Up with Hunger.” We will be joined by other youth groups in our Fellowship Hall as we fast from food for 30 HOURS. During this time of fellowship, prayer, and reflection, we will be learn about:
​-World hunger realities
-Local hunger realities
-What can be done about it?
-The spiritual nature of fasting and service
In the weeks leading up to the event, students will be seeking sponsors to donate to the cause.  Donations will go to the NAZARENE COMPASSIONATE MINISTRIES (NCM) Food Security program. Through this program, NCM partners with local churches around the world to provide long-term agricultural programs such as small-scale farming, animal husbandry, and fish farms, as well as nutrition education, to improve health and provide a source of income for families and individuals.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

STUDENTS: Fill out the form to the left or sign up in the Welcome Center.

ADULTS: Fill out the form to the left. Below is a list of specific areas we will be looking for help. Students will be reaching out personally for donations, however, there are a number of ways everyone in the church can participate:
  • GOT CARDBOARD? MAGAZINES? Our participants will be sleeping in makeshift cardboard homes, so we’ll take any extra boxes you happen to have around! Also, we’ll take any old family-friendly magazines you have for another activity.
  • HELP ORGANIZE. Join us in planning the event or help lead a particular portion of our event, like a community prayer walk, a volunteer experience, or an interactive presentation. 
  • SHARE YOUR STORY.  Have you had personal experience with fasting? Hunger issues? Have you worked in this area? Tell us your perspective! 
  • DONATE TIME. Would you like to help with registration? The celebration meal at the end of the fast?
  • DONATE RESOURCES. Do you think those who raise a certain amount should receive a prize of some sort? Would you like to contribute juice for the fast or food for the celebration meal? T-shirts? Something else?
